Hammer 47 may be my favorite local metal band. This was my sixth time working with them, my first being when I discovered Hammer 47 back in March 2024 while looking to build up my portfolio. I was looking through shows at Morsbergers Tavern in Catonsville and thought they sounded interesting, so I messaged them and asked if I could shoot their upcoming gig. The rest is history.
I’ve shot Hammer 47 at a wide variety of venues, and no matter where they are, they always bring the energy. So far, my favorite venue that they've performed at was on a farm; hearing the lead singer Brady’s insane vocals out in the open air and not confined in a small venue was crazy. There was a massive crowd, and so much space for moshing. While I was a little worried for the safety of my camera being in the front of the crowd, it was such a fun time.
I’m always super stoked when I see Hammer 47 announce a new gig, and I was super happy to see it was close to home for me. It was my first time ever at Ottobar, and they did not disappoint. I didn’t go to many metal concerts before I started working with Hammer 47, and I have fallen in love with the metal community. Even when there isn’t a massive crowd, everyone is still so immersed in the experience, moshing and enjoying the music with everyone else. It’s something amazing when a band can get the whole crowd going like that.
Brady is joined by his brother Cooper, who can absolutely shred. Not only are the vocals and guitar crazy, but the whole band is super talented, with Tanner on bass and Daniel on drums. Ottobar was a perfect space for them, with a balcony where people could watch and a pit for moshing. Hammer 47 put on such a fantastic show.
